Hi - thank you for completing the Understanding Neurodiversity in Grassroots Football training - we REALLY appreciate it!
Neurodevelopmental conditions like ADHD and autism are now more prevalent than ever and their rates are set to increase in the coming years. Unfortunately, the system is seriously lagging, with thousands of individuals waiting years for diagnoses.
Football clubs must be prepared to support neurodiverse players and their families, and you have taken a big step in doing so.
Whatever anyone says, there is still not enough being done to support the mental health of the grassroots game. Together, we are changing that.
We've placed your Club Neurodiversity Support Plan, a copy of the training slides and other assets into a Google Drive that you can access by clicking the button at the bottom of this page.
By embracing the principles and strategies outlined in this plan, your club can create a positive, inclusive environment where neurodiverse players and their families feel valued and supported. Inclusivity is a journey, not a destination and this plan provides the tools to make meaningful progress at a pace that works for your club.
We hope these allow you to take a long-term, 'whole club' approach to neurodiversity support and education, enabling you to take the in-depth course content and implement it across the whole club in time scales that are appropriate for everyone involved.
We recognise that neurodiversity, mental health and safeguarding aren't topics you can "complete" - they require ongoing learning and support.
That's why we've created the Grassroots Football Neurodiversity, Mental Health & Safeguarding Academy - an ongoing support system with monthly expert-led sessions, continuously updated football-specific resources, a moderated peer community, and unlimited seats for your whole club in our core training of Mental Health First Aid for Grassroots Football, Understanding Neurodiversity in Grassroots Football and Managing Anger and Emotional Regulation in Grassroots Football.
This also includes a parallel Parent/Carer/Guardian Academy.
